High school football: West De Pere holds on to beat Kaukauna
West De Pere advances to the Division 2 state football semifinals with a 20-14 victory over Kaukauna.
NEENAH – Bay Port rode its superior depth to the sectional team championship, finishing with 348 points to outscore second-place Appleton North, which had 324.
The Pirates did not have any individual champions, but got a pair of second-place finishes from Kali Streckenbach in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Bay Port also finished second in all three relay events.
Kiersten Dietschweiler of Oshkosh West won the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Samara Zeinert of Oshkosh West won the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
Other individual winners were Ava Strassburg of Appleton East in the diving competition, Ivana Neverman of Green Bay Southwest co-op in the 200 individual medley, Carly Larson of De Pere in the 100 butterfly, Etta Yonke of Oshkosh West in the 100 freestyle, and Ana Flanagan of Appleton North in the 100 breaststroke.
Appleton North won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay, and Oshkosh West won the 400 freestyle relay.
First-place finishers automatically qualify for the Division 1 state meet, which is Nov. 16 at Waukesha South High School.

ASHWAUBENON – Kohler won the team title with 327 points, while Ashwaubenon was second with 323 and Sturgeon Bay co-op third with 298.
Erin Schuch of Ashwaubenon won the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Julia Michalski of Sturgeon Bay co-op won the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke.
Other individual winners from the area included Maya VandeKolk of Seymour in the 50 freestyle and Addy Lundt of Clintonville in the 100 breaststroke.

ASHWAUBENON – The Crusaders swept the Spartans 25-18, 25-10, 25-22 to win the state title at the Resch Center.
Campbell Onell had seven kills for the Spartans. Alayna Deprez had 22 assists, while Rylan Kaminski had 14 digs and Aubrey Frey had 13 digs.
Catholic Memorial was led by Jenna Welsch with 11 kills, Ellen Mowbray with 16 assists and Addison Fura with 13 digs.
CMH finishes the season with a 35-10 record, while Luxemburg-Casco finishes 30-13.
MILWAUKEE – The Cardinals scored a goal in each half in the victory over the Hornets to secure the state title.
Riley Kann gave Middleton a 1-0 lead with a header into the net just 1:33 into the first half.
Sawyer FitzRandolph made it 2-0 with a goal from about 25 yards out at 60:51 in the second half.
Preble goalie Landin Gauthier made three saves. Middleton goalie Liev Schiffman made one save.
Middleton finishes the season with a 21-3-1 record. Preble finishes at 17-4-3.
