Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the first week of the season. The NBA announced the news on social media.
During the Lakers’ 3-0 start to the regular season, Davis averaged 34.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 37.7 minutes per game. Tatum helped the Celtics get off to a 3-0 start by averaging 33.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 32.3 minutes per game.
In the Western Conference, other players receiving votes included Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder teammates Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren, LA Clippers teammates James Harden and Ivica Zubac, and Lakers forward LeBron James.
In the Eastern Conference, other players receiving votes included Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen, Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey, Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young.
