It’s no secret to anyone that FC Barcelona is relying less and less on Ansu Fati in their sports project. Despite not going through any physical setbacks, the Blaugrana’s ’10’ has not seen minutes since January 4th, in the culé victory against UD Barbastro (0-4) in the Copa del Rey.
Moreover, coupled with the poor form of the homegrown player, his competitors in the forward line, the imposing trident formed by Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha, as well as a great impact player like Ferran Torres, are in an evidently better form than him. They are responding with goals and stellar performances.
This situation has pushed Ansu Fati into obscurity at FC Barcelona, a team that tried to get rid of the forward by all means possible during the winter transfer window, seeking to loan him to other teams. However, the academy player has chosen to weather the storm and stay at the culé team, a decision that is now resulting in a lack of playing time and even exclusion from matchday squads at times.
As reported by the ‘SPORT’ newspaper, it is expected that during the upcoming summer transfer window, an effective search for a new destination for the forward will be pursued. Likewise, it is hoped that the player from Bissau will make the most of the remaining months of the 2024-25 season to train intensively and, even if he plays little or none, try to arrive in the best possible shape to attract interesting sporting proposals.
One of the main issues that FC Barcelona faces with Ansu Fati is closely related to finding a club interested in his services. It is not so much about his sporting performance, as it is known that with continuity in his game he could regain his best level, but rather his high salary, which is approximately around €13 million gross, and that the Barcelona club would like to save. A sum that, by the way, is unlikely that another team would be willing to assume given the current situation of the forward.
According to the same source mentioned earlier, the possible solution that FC Barcelona and the agent of Ansu Fati, Jorge Mendes, are considering is to explore the Arab market (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Emirates, among others), which have clubs with economic power that could be willing to give an opportunity to the ’10’. The question now is whether the former Brighton player is willing to leave the culé team and try his luck in Middle Eastern football.
Although it has also been mentioned that there is interest from Spanish teams like Sevilla FC in acquiring his services, the proposals offered so far do not seem to satisfy the Barcelona side. Will the ‘Ansu Fati soap opera’ unfold in the summer? We shall see.
