How about ‘dem apples.
Illinois beat Penn State by 39 points (91-52) in another incredible performance on Wednesday night — and, in my opinion, the Illini didn’t even play their best ball (or anywhere close to it).
Either way, it was yet another historic night for Brad Underwood’s team.
Six days after beating then-No. 9 Oregon by 32 points — the biggest win ever against a top-10 on the road — Illinois did something it’s done for just the third time in nearly a century.
According to Illini Stats & Notes, Wednesday was the third time Illinois has had three 20-point scorers in the same game since the 1938-39 season.
Tonight marked the third time since 1938-39 that three #Illini scored at least 20 points in the same contest.

On Wednesday, Ben Humrichous finished with 21 points, while Morez Johnson and Tre White both had 20. No other Illini scored more than 9 (DGL).
Remarkably, it’s the second time that’s happened in the past 11 months, and all three instances have occurred since I started college at UIUC in 2015.
Now for the pop quiz — do you remember what happened in that 2016 game vs. Rutgers? We’ll wait.

A 110-101 win for the Illini in triple overtime!
