Rory McIlroy lobbed his golf club into the water as he let his frustrations boil over after the BMW Championship.
The Northern Irishman let his frustration get the better of him after hitting his tee shot wide right on the 17th in Colorado.
As the ball drifted off to the rough, McIlroy suddenly chucked the drive into the body of water in front of him, creating a splash.
After watching to see where his shot ended up, and clearly fuming, McIlroy begrudgingly walked to the water’s edge.
From there, he reached down to scoop his club out of the water.
He almost tripped whilst climbing back up, before passing it back to his caddy and stomping on.
McIlroy had just come off a disappointing 16th.
He bogeyed the par-3 to take him back to 1-under for the round.
The four-time major winner did par the hole and the 18th to record a 71.
McIlroy is now ten shots behind leader Australian Adam Scott and has a lot of work to do to put himself back in contention.
It’s been a tough summer for McIlroy, who finished second at the US Open after missing two agonising putts in the closing stages and losing to Bryson DeChambeau.
McIlroy then failed to make the final cut at The Open, too.
Ironically, he suffered a club related incident then as well.
A tied-68th finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship didn’t help matters, either.
He did finish fifth at the Olympics in Paris, though.
