The following ruling from Ohio was published yesterday:
“Ms. Betty Jo Clegg brought a horse onto the grounds of Northfield Park [Nov 8] with a serious health condition that could potentially have had a contagious disease. Her action was against the best interest of racing. She is hereby fined $1,000 and suspended for 60 days.” Then this: “The suspension will be reduced to 30 days if not appealed.”
The problem with bringing a sick horse to the track (ostensibly to race) is that it’s “against the best interest of racing,” not that you brought a sick horse to the track (ostensibly to race). Makes perfect sense to me.
