The end of summer marks the return of football season, which is sure to dominate many television screens every Sunday and Monday night for the foreseeable future. (Or, as I prefer to call it, Taylor Swift Sightings: Sports Edition!) But if you’re looking to add yet another sports-centric activity into your weekly viewing rotation, Ryan Murphy’s newest anthology series American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez could be just what you’re looking for—though, be warned, the contents of this story aren’t for the faint of heart.
Based on the The Boston Globe and Wondery podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.,” the series centers around the career and personal life of former NFL player Aaron Hernandez (Josh Andrés Rivera) as well as the tragically horrifying turn that life eventually took. Hernandez was convicted of murder and died by suicide in 2017 while serving out his prison sentence.
The show’s first season, which consists of 10 episodes total, will air on FX and be available for streaming on Hulu. But when exactly will all of these episodes become available? Here’s a helpful breakdown of everything you need to know about American Sports Story’s episode release schedule.
The series makes its official FX debut on Tuesday, September 17. However, unlike some shows that opt to release an entire season in one fell swoop, only the first two episodes of American Sports Story will be available to tackle that day. (Yay, sports jargon!) So you’ll need a little patience to see what comes next.
Immediately following the two-episode premiere, the show will then proceed to drop one new episode each week all the way up until the finale in November. That means viewers can expect to see episode 3 hit their screens on Tuesday, September 24. And given Murphy’s track record with FX shows, the wait is sure to be well worth your while.
