Tennis fans welcome back US Open
Day one of the U.S. Open kicked off with an “electric crowd” of loyal fans.
Two American women are heading to the semifinals tonight in the US Open with a chance for a face-off in the final.
These two tennis stars have more than talent and winning ambition in common; Emma Navarro and Jessica Pegula are both native New Yorkers and both are billionaire heiresses.
Pegula is ranked sixth in the world while Navarro is ranked 13th.
Navarro will have the tougher match against the second best-player in the world, two-time Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus at 7 p.m. Eastern at Arthur Ashe Stadium tonight in Flushing, New York.
Pegula will then follow in a match-up against Karolina Muchova at 8:15 p.m. Eastern, or when the first match finishes.
Pegula, 30 years old, is a native of Buffalo, New York. Her parents are Terry and Kim Pegula, the owners of the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League and the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. The family is one of the richest in the country with a net worth of $7.7 billion, according to news source.
Navarro, a slightly younger 23 years of age, is a native of New York City. Her parents are Ben and Kelly Navarro. Ben Navarro is a self-made business tycoon with a reported net worth of $1.5 billion.
The winners of these two matches will face off in the women’s final on Saturday.
