Amazon is reducing headcount.
Amazon is said to be reducing staffing in its Fashion and Fitness division.
According to Seeking Alpha coverage of initial reporting in Business Insider, Amazon is laying off roughly 200 employees from its Fashion and Fitness group. In commentary provided to Business Insider, an Amazon spokesperson said the cuts are part of broader changes it is making to its North America stores team.
“We’re always looking at our team structures to ensure we’re best set up to move fast as we innovate for customers,” the spokesperson told Business Insider. “We’ve adjusted parts of our North America Stores team because we believe this structure will better enable us to deliver on our priorities. As part of these changes, we’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of roles, and we’re committed to supporting affected employees through their transition.”
The Amazon jobs website describes the Fashion and Fitness group as “bringing customers the best possible selection, whether it’s size-inclusive fashion or a wide range of equipment for fitness enthusiasts,” and lists 23 open positions including a number of roles in engineering as well as supply chain and product management.
