Alex de Minaur outlined his main goals for 2025 after making a promising start to the campaign.
The 25-year-old has made vast improvements over the past two seasons and established himself as the undisputed Australian number one.
He is now firmly inside the world’s top 10 and he is beginning to feature more in the second week of Grand Slams.
Having made a solid start to the season, Alex De Minaur is relishing the opportunity to take his game to the next level.
De Minaur struggled with injury in parts of the 2024 campaign. De Minaur injured his hip at Wimbledon during an encounter with Arthur Fils and subsequently pulled out of the tournament.
The problem affected him throughout the remainder of the season, but he still managed to reach the US Open quarter-finals and qualify for the ATP Finals.
After reaching the last eight of the Australian Open, De Minaur is aiming to stay healthy and continue showing the world what he is capable of.
“I do feel like I’ve taken big steps in the right direction in the last year. I’ve improved as a player,” De Minaur told the ATP Tour’s website.
“I think showing the consistency of making the quarters in the last four Slams is something that I don’t take lightly by any means. And I think it’s a great platform to build on. I want more.
“Last year, a lot of stuff happened, I was injured for a lot of the year and I still managed to achieve some great results, but the goal this year is to stay healthy and have that same trajectory.
“And hopefully that’s going to take me to bigger and better things and I don’t think I’ve hit my ceiling just yet. It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to what this year has to offer.”
De Minaur will play at the Rotterdam Open, his first tournament since reaching the quarter-finals of his home Grand Slam.
He returns to the event after defeating the likes of Andrey Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov to reach the final in 2024.
However, he was beaten in the championship match by Jannik Sinner, who at the time was on an unbeaten run to start the last campaign.
In 2024 De Minaur will begin his campaign against David Goffin who has yet to secure a win this year and has already played in four tournaments.
De Minaur has won all five of their previous meetings and has dropped just one set against Goffin who will need to be at his best to have any chance of winning.
