Florida basketball forward Alex Condon is out after suffering a right ankle injury 30 seconds into Tuesday night’s game between UF and Mississippi State.
The 6-foot-11, 230-pound Condon landed awkwardly attempting to grab a loose ball before going down on the court. He was helped to the locker room by UF trainers and unable to put weight on his right foot.
Condon, a sophomore, has emerged as one of the top young forwards in the SEC, averaging 11.0 points and 8.1 rebounds on the season with five double doubles. He’s coming off a week in which he earned SEC Player of the Week honors after averaging 18.0 ppg, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in UF wins over Vanderbilt and No. 1 Auburn.
Florida is now down two starters, as Alijah Martin is out for his second straight game with a hip pointer.
The No. 3 Florida Gators (20-3, 7-3 SEC) are 4-2 on the road this season and coming off a 90-81 upset at No. 1 Auburn last Saturday.
