Grocery stores and others would save money on shopping carts if they’d adopt ALDI’s plan. When shopping at an ALDI, I noticed that there were no carts in the parking lot or on sidewalks. I discovered that you insert a quarter into a slot on the basket to unlock it and then go into the store to shop. When you’re done and return the cart to the front of the store, you insert the locking device into the back slot and your quarter is returned.
ALDI not only saves on needing to have employees walk the parking lot retrieving carts, none of them are found in canyons, drainage canals, sidewalks etc. Plus it keep costs down on groceries. All stores using carts should adopt this plan. It will cut down on costs and be more convenient for shoppers not having to search for a cart, and it will also keep carts from being used as trash bins.
