Alabama football has added a former SEC offensive lineman to its roster ahead of Monday’s start to spring practice. When UA’s Yea Alabama NIL collective announced numbers for newcomers Sunday, Jayden Hobson was among the names listed.

Hobson played his high school football in Tuscaloosa, at Paul W. Bryant and Hill before joining Mississippi State in the 2023 recruiting class as a three-star offensive lineman. He did not see the field during his lone season in Starkville.

After that, Hobson entered the transfer portal and ended up at South Alabama. However, he left the Jaguars in August with intentions to leave school and enter the workforce, and did not play college football during the 2024 season.

Hobson was a tackle throughout his previous stops. He was listed at 6-foot-5, 295 pounds at Mississippi State, and OT is a spot where the Crimson Tide could use depth.

However, Hobson’s Instagram bio suggests he might be taking a different route at Alabama. Hobson listed himself as a tight end with the Crimson Tide, as of Sunday morning.

Alabama begins spring practice Monday morning in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide will continue through April 12, when spring ball ends with the A-Day game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

In a twist for 2025, the A-Day game will not be aired on television, for the first time since at least 2006.
