Akron police raided an illegal gambling den in Kenmore on Wednesday, arresting multiple individuals and seizing cash and other items, police reported.
After receiving multiple complaints from local residents, an establishment in the 2200 block of East Avenue became a place of interest for law enforcement. Officers executed a search warrant at about 5 p.m. after a period of gathering evidence and establishing probable cause.
Police forced entry after individuals inside the illegal gambling establishment refused to open the door. Several suspects were subsequently detained, and over a dozen electronic gambling machines, $11,000 in cash, multiple televisions, several cell phones, a stolen handgun and other property were seized.
Three men who ranged in age from 32 to 58 years old were arrested in connection to the illegal gambling operation. Each man was charged with illegal gambling, while one of the men received an additional operating an illegal gambling house charge.
The 58-year-old man was released, while the other two were later booked into the Summit County Jail, according to police.
