Jordan Love’s contract and other Day 1 Packers practice takeaways
Jordan Love elected not to practice without a contract plus other takeaways from the start of 2024 Packers training camp.
A year ago, there was hope Jordan Love would become the Green Bay Packers’ franchise quarterback. But he was unproven and questions remained on what he would become.
One year later, after proving himself in a breakout season, the only question remained was how large his contract extension would be this offseason.
On Friday night, that question was answered in a big way. He signed the richest contract in Packers history (four years for $220 million), tied an NFL record for the highest yearly salary ($55 million) and has a signing bonus that is the highest in NFL history ($75 million), PackersNews confirmed.
His contract extension also means he’ll be on the field for practice on Saturday for the first time during training camp.
The NFL world reacted to the news on Friday night, with teammate and good friend AJ Dillon having the best tweet. Dillon and Love were part of the Packers’ 2020 draft class with Love a first round pick and Dillon in the second round.
