Eight teams, including India A and Pakistan A, will be competing in the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in Oman from October 18 to 27.
All matches will be at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amarat. India A will start their campaign against Pakistan A on Friday.
All of India A’s matches in the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, including the India A vs Pakistan A clash, will be available on live streaming in India.
The 14-member India A team at the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 will be led by Tilak Varma. Abhishek Sharma, Ayush Badoni and Rahul Chahar are some of the other notable names in the squad.
The eight nations have been divided into two groups of four teams each and will play each other in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
Group A: Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A, Hong Kong China
Group B: India A, Pakistan A (Pakistan Shaheens), Oman, United Aram Emirates (UAE)
Though this is the sixth edition of the Asian cricket showpiece, it will be the first time that the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format. All five previous editions followed the 50-over format.
India won the inaugural edition in 2013 while Sri Lanka won the two subsequent editions in 2017 and 2018. Pakistan Shaheens have emerged victorious in the two latest editions hosted in 2019 and 2023.
Last year, Pakistan A beat India A by 128 runs in the final at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium to lift the trophy.
