MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The first-ever ACC Legends reunion golf tournament teed off in Myrtle Beach this weekend.
About a year ago, Wayne Buckinghamand his friend and former NBA player Dale Davis had the idea to bring over 70 of his fellow ACC coaches and players together to play golf and raise money for charity.
The tournament benefits the Ellis Foundation, the charity founded by former Coastal Carolina University Head Coach Cliff Ellis and his wife Carolyn which supports early childhood development.

“You know, we hadn’t seen some of each other in 20, 30 years, and it was a great opportunity, weekend, to catch up with these guys and see what’s going on today. See how we can help each other. And you know as Buck [Wayne Buckingham] mentioned, just networking and pooling our resources together to help make a difference and change,” said Elliott Lydell “Dale” Davis, a former Clemson Tiger and retired NBA Player.
The weekend included a meet and greet, autograph signing and silent auction on Friday and the tournament atLegends Golf & Resort on Saturday.
The organizers plan to hold the tournament annually going forward.
