Charges of racketeering, racing, money laundering and gambling promotion have led to nine arrests near Levelland, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, investigations with DPS, the Texas Racing Commission, South Plains Auto Theft Task Force, and Hockley County Sherriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a property linked to a Levelland resident. The search revealed 135 grams of cocaine and “numerous gambling devices” found and seized, according to a DPS release.
Nine people have been arrested in connection with several charges, including gambling promotion, engaging in organized criminal activity, money laundering, use of proceeds derived from racketeering or unlawful debt collection, unlawful racing, and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing.
