FRESNO, Claif. (FOX26) — A 5-year-old mare has died after an injury during a race on Sunday at the Big Fresno Fair.
The California Authority of Racing Fairs says 5-year-old ‘Cry Me a Runner’ had to be euthanized after a fracture in her front right fetlock during the second race.
Cry Me a Runner is the first racehorse death this year at the Big Fresno Fair, and the 9th for California as a whole for fair races.
Six deaths were reported in Alameda County Fair/Pleasanton Races, and two were reported at the Humboldt County Fair/Ferndale.
This is also the 63rd horse death in all 2024 California races so far.
