Hong Kong has seen a rise in pet ownership in recent years, with the city’s population of dogs, cats and smaller mammals – as well as birds, fish and reptiles – increasing by 50,000 to 1.19 million between 2018 and 2023, according to online statistics portal Statista.
Booming alongside this is a pet economy that includes everything from pet-friendly cafes and boutiques to grooming salons.
