Coco Gauff becomes first tennis player to be Olympic flag bearer
Coco Gauff was voted in as the first tennis player in Olympic history to become a flag bearer, and says she was “shocked” to be picked.
An exhibition doubles match with Andre Agassi and Mardy Fish standing off against Andy Roddick and John Isner will headline Community Day at the Cincinnati Open on Saturday Aug. 10, the tournament announced Monday.
Cincinnati Open’s 2004 champion Lindsay Davenport will serve as the match’s chair umpire and fellow Olympic gold medalist Steffi Graf will offer courtside commentary.
The legendary exhibition match takes place on the Center Court at Mason’s Lindner Family Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Aug. 10.
This year marks the first time the world-renowned tournament is hosting a Community Day the day before competitors take to the courts at Lindner Family Tennis Center. The headlining doubles match will be joined by autograph sessions, yoga, tastings at the Top Deck and other special events for attendees to enjoy from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday’s exhibition doubles match features a foursome that collectively boasts 89 match wins during their careers at the now-Cincinnati Open.
Agassi is a three-time Cincinnati Open champion and a 1996 Olympic gold medalist. His doubles partner, Fish, boasts six ATP titles. Roddick is a two-time Cincinnati Open champion and 2003 U.S. Open champion. His partner, Isner, is a 16-time title winner. Isner retired last year after hitting 14,470 aces in his career – the most in ATP history.
