You’ve discovered the perfect remote job. Well, at least, that’s what you thought until that fully remote job comes with a caveat: the employer only hires and expects you to work from a specific state, local region, or country.
Quite frustrating, right?
When you look for work-from-home roles, you’ll usually find that they fall into two categories: the ones that allow you to work from home but dictate that you must reside in a specific state or local region, and the more flexible ones that will enable you to work away from your current or primary home, anywhere in the world.
The second variety can be challenging to find, mainly because some employers are restricted to hiring in specific areas due to the limitations of labor regulations and HR hurdles. These companies might also be reluctant to allow you to take your work on the road since traveling with company equipment like your work laptop can pose a significant risk as far as data privacy and theft are concerned.
But thankfully, there are still companies that hire remote jobs which are remote in every sense of the word. They allow you to work from any location on the planet–not just your current or primary residence, and they hire anywhere, meaning that you don’t need to be based in a specific country or region to be considered for the role.
Working from anywhere in the world offers numerous benefits in 2025, such as:
Cost savings–not only can you save money on the commute to the office, but you can generate further savings by moving to a location with a lower cost of living. You can travel to multiple locations for a few months at a time (this is what it means to be a digital nomad).
Boosted well-being—traveling and working from new places can boost your productivity and help you feel excited about your work. They give you a change of environment, which breaks up the monotony and is good for your mental health.
Access to opportunity–of course, if you live in a country that is not often targeted by most employers for remote job opportunities, you have the benefits of access to decent pay and working conditions while working your dream remote job, which you might not have been able to obtain otherwise.
And guess what, remote jobs that have a work-from-anywhere policy are great for employers too.
Studies show that allowing employees to work entirely remotely leads to higher employee satisfaction and retention
From an employer perspective, this policy gives you access to a more diverse and global talent pool, which is especially key if you’re entering into new markets. Studies also show that allowing employees to work remotely leads to higher employee satisfaction and retention rates, and boosts their mental health, increasing productivity and collaboration.
Additionally, when employers step outside the limitation of hiring from one specific country or region and use centralized services to recruit and onboard talent globally, business operations can continue uninterrupted since employees continuously work on projects in overlapping time zones worldwide.
So, who are the companies currently (or recently) hiring for remote work-from-anywhere jobs? FlexJobs, the flexible and remote jobs board, recently analyzed their database and compiled a list of employers leading the way in global hiring that provide ultimate flexibility for their workers to operate from any part of the world. (It’s worth bearing in mind, though, that work-from-anywhere can sometimes mean anywhere within a specific time zone due to the logistics of collaboration and essential meetings, especially with clients, stakeholders, and partners.)
After analyzing over 60,000 companies between January 1 and December 31, 2024, FlexJobs analysts determined which employers had the highest volume of work-from-anywhere job postings.
Here are the companies they discovered:
Of the 30 employers listed, approximately 19 were newcomers to this 2025 list compared to FlexJobs analysis of work-from-anywhere remote employers last year. Other companies, like Veeva, Invisible Technologies, Canonical, and Wikimedia Foundation, are familiar faces on the annual list and demonstrate consistency in hiring without geographical restrictions.
Use this list of employers to help you be more targeted in your search for remote jobs. Scroll through their career pages to understand not only their available roles but also their company values, mission, and ethics so you can see if your values align with their culture. Remote jobs are very competitive to land, but work-from-anywhere jobs have even more vigorous competition. This means you’ll need to exert extra effort to ensure your application stands out and thoroughly understand these companies inside out. You’ll also need to create an action plan to connect with decision-makers and hiring managers within these companies to be at the forefront of their minds when a new opportunity arises.
These companies span various industries, from marketing agencies to software development for SaaS, to finance, and they hire for roles in multiple departments like project management, sales, operations, and IT. So, you’ll be more likely to find a remote job that aligns with your experience and interests.
It’s time to embrace the new era of flexible working and take your career on the road.
