Indian tennis enjoyed a brilliant week in the doubles category as three players of the country won three titles at three different tournaments in different corners of the world on Saturday.
India hadn’t won a single ATP tour title on the circuit this season before Saturday.
But now India has two titles as Yuki Bhambri won the ATP 500 Dubai Tennis Championships, while Rithvik Bolipalli won the ATP 250 Chile Open.
In addition, Anirudh Chandrasekar also won the ATP 125 challenger title at the home event, the Bengaluru Open, making it a much more memorable day for the tennis fans.
India’s no.1 doubles player Rohan Bopanna also expressed his happiness on this feat via his social media posts:
“Indian tennis players just pulled off an international doubles heist,” Bopanna wrote.
Yuki Bhambri – ATP 500 Dubai Open
The weekend started with a thrilling final win for India in Dubai as the Indo-Australian pairing of Yuki Bhambri and Alexei Popyrin clinched the doubles title at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
The duo secured a thrilling 3-6, 7-6, 10-8 win in the final against the second-seeded pair of Harri Heliovaara (Finland) and Henry Patten (Great Britain)
This was India’s first ATP title of the season.
Meanwhile, it marked Yuki’s fourth career ATP doubles title and his first-ever triumph in an ATP 500 tournament.
Yuki Bhambri, after his title-winning run in Dubai, said, “We were so close to losing in the first round. So, it’s unbelievable to win the title here, and I don’t think I ever dreamt of it”.
Rithvik Bolipalli – ATP 250 Chile Open
Rithvik Bolipalli and his Colombian partner, Nicolás Barrientos, clinched the men’s doubles title at the Chile Open 2025 with a dominating straight-set (6-3, 6-2) win against the top-seed Argentine pairing of Máximo González and Andrés Molteni.
With this win, Rithvik also became the first Indian doubles player to win an ATP title at the Latin clay court. This was also Rithvik’s second career ATP title after the Almaty Open last year.
The 23-year-old has slowly put his name amongst the best in the country and will be aiming to continue this momentum and rise in the top 50 doubles ranking this year.
Anirudh Chandrasekar – Bengaluru Challenger 125 Title
The top-seeded Anirudh Chandrasekar and his partner Ray Ho of Chinese Taipei defeated Australia’s Blake Bayldon and Matthew Christopher Romios 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the Bengaluru Challengers doubles title.
This was the biggest career title for the 26-year-old Indian, who had never won a Challenger 125 title before.
Overall, this was his fifth challenger title, including one challenger 100 and three challenger 75s.
Chandrasekar, reflecting on his win, said, “It’s been a while since I won a title, so it feels surreal. And I’m really happy about the way we played the whole week, the way we carried each other, and the amount of positive vibes we had as a team.”
“So all of it fell in place, and we’re just happy with the win, and it’s a great feeling to have,” he added.
