Three people on Sunday loaded up shopping carts at the Target store in southern Lawrence and walked out without paying, according to Lawrence police.
The individuals stole more than $2,500 worth of merchandise from the store at 3201 Iowa St., police said. They were contacted in the parking lot around 6 p.m. by loss prevention staff, who requested that they return to the store, which they did.
A list of the allegedly stolen items was not immediately available.
Two of the suspects were female and one was male, police said. Affidavits will be forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.
