AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – “Illegal gambling has continued to create nuisances and other concerns throughout the city,” Akron police said, and detectives busted another operation.
This latest bust was in the 2200 block of East Avenue, APD shared.
APD stated the establishment landed on officers’ radar after getting complaints from residents in the area.
Officers then saw suspicious activity themselves, according to APD.
APD said officers confirmed their suspicions about what was happening at the establishment as they gathered evidence during the investigation.
Officers established probable cause and executed a search warrant on the illegal establishment around 5 p.m. on Dec. 11, APD reported.
Individuals inside refused to open the door, said APD, so officers forced entry.
Once they were inside, officers detained several people after seeing signs of illegal activity, according to APD.
APD listed these items that were seized:
APD confirmed three men between the ages of 32-58 were arrested.
All three were charged with illegal gambling, according to APD.
One of then was also charged for operating an illegal gambling house, stated APD.
APD said the 58-year-old man was released with a summons, and the other two were booked into the Summit County Jail.
