The Detroit Lions are more popular than ever. If the ear-bleeding, sold-out crowds at Ford Field weren’t enough proof, check out the latest list of the top merchandise sales from March 1 to May 31, 2024, as reported by the NFL Players Association.
The list of the top 50 includes SIX Lions players, three of which are in the top 10. Here’s a look at each Lions player’s ranking:
Here are some interesting notes about the Lions’ performance on this list, as pointed out by the NFLPA.
Hutchinson is the first defensive player to break into the top-three rankings since Khalil Mack in 2019. He was also among the top three in cap sellers. St. Brown jumped all the way from No. 33 to 4. And maybe most impressively, Penei Sewell became just the third offensive lineman ever to crack the top 50 list, joining Jason Kelce and Alejandro Villanueva.
The NFLPA also reported that Hutchinson and St. Brown were two of the four most popular jersey sales in this time span, joining C.J. Stroud and Patrick Mahomes.
All in all, I think it’s fair to say that the Lions are both drawing an incredible passion out of their local fans, and they’re starting to build themselves as a national brand.
