Data entry remote jobs might be taking a backseat thanks to artificial intelligence, but that’s not to say they are no longer needed completely. Some data entry roles are still in high demand.
For example, medical billers and coders are seeing job growth of up to 9% from 2023 to 2033, which is much faster than the average job growth rate according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projections.
Traditionally, remote data entry jobs typically involve administrative or data entry clerk tasks, much of which are now easily performed by AI tools. Yet, the data entry roles below are still necessary, partly because some companies still prefer the human touch as far as quality of output is concerned and also because AI tools can only go so far when it comes to accuracy…at least for now. You can use AI tools to augment and support your data entry role, but remember, you are being hired for your meticulous attention to detail and skills, so do not over-rely on AI in your work.
Check out these three data entry remote jobs for 2024:
As already mentioned, medical coders and billers will be in high demand for the foreseeable future. Their work focuses on managing patient records and ensuring healthcare providers receive payments.
“Medical billers and coders keep patient records, calculate charges, and review files,” says Forbes Advisor. “They handle insurance claims accurately and efficiently. Medical coders use specialized coding classification systems to translate a healthcare provider’s diagnosis, procedure, prescription, or other services into standardized codes…Medical billers then use these codes to create billable claims that can be submitted to payers (such as insurance companies) or clearinghouses.”
For career progression, you could work your way up to becoming a medical coding director or compliance director, in which you can earn $128,000 a year, according to ZipRecruiter.
Average salary: $46,638 (some top earners report making up to $61,000 a year)
Another in-demand remote data entry job that pays well is a data analyst. As a data analyst, you can expect routine tasks to include collecting data from various sources for a project, cleaning and removing expired or corrupted data, spotting trends and patterns, and providing helpful data-driven feedback to decision-makers.
According to the BLS, data analysts have a strong job outlook, with data science professionals expecting a 36% surge in job demand. This is mainly driven by the incorporation of AI into workflows and processes, making data analysis a necessity. Additionally, fields such as sales marketing require data analysis to drive increased traffic and secure more sales revenue.
Average salary: $108,946
When thinking about remote data entry jobs, you might not initially think of content management, but this is certainly a role that should be on your radar as it comes with strong earning and career potential, being in the marketing industry.
Content managers have a wide range of responsibilities, including leading a content marketing team in some cases. One of their tasks involves researching and compiling data. As a content manager, you may also upload and schedule content (such as blogs, images, or social media posts) for digital platforms and use the insights from web traffic data to inform your next steps for content marketing.
Average salary: $131,103
All remote data entry jobs require strict attention to detail, accuracy, strong written communication, and research skills. You can also land the three data entry remote jobs listed above without needing a degree, as long as you obtain relevant certifications or an associate degree. Apply for these roles today, and see where your career will take you.
