The 2025 WBIT will have a 32-team bracket that will be announced on Sunday, March 16. It’s the second year of the event, with Illinois winning the inaugural competition last year.

The first four teams out of the 2025 NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament — as determined by the DI selection committee — will receive an automatic bid and the first four seeds in the WBIT.

• Selections: Sunday, March 16
• First round: Thursday, March 20 on ESPN+
• Second round: Sunday, March 23 on ESPN+
• Quarterfinals: Thursday, March 27 on ESPN+
• Semifinals: 2:30 and 5 p.m. ET Monday, March 31 on ESPNU at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis
• Championship: 6 p.m. ET Wednesday, April 2 on ESPNU at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis

How WBIT teams are selected

The first four teams out of the NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament — as determined by the DI women’s basketball selection committee — will receive an automatic bid into the WBIT and also receive the first four seeds.

Regular season champions of DI conferences not otherwise selected for the NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament will also automatically qualify (if eligible and not reclassifying institutions). The remaining field will be made up of at-large teams chosen by the WBIT selection committee.

First, second and quarterfinal games will be held at campus sites. Action then moves to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the semifinals and the championship.
