Ludvig Aberg, who, as you can see below, made money this week, is also hoping not to see it go. It’s not that he can’t afford it. Far from it.
Actually, he explained his feelings well.
“I lose money to Joe,” Aberg said, “so I don’t want to do that.”
“Joe?” He’s Joe Skovron, Aberg’s caddie, and this week, at the Genesis Invitational, Aberg revealed the two have a bet going — if the pro can make seven hole-outs by the end of the RBC Heritage, scheduled for mid-April, he wins; if he doesn’t, the caddie wins. It’s meant to inspire, and the message has been received.
Aberg’s close. On Friday, during the second round, he holed out from a bunker on the 18th hole at Torrey Pines; that put him at four. On Saturday, during the third round, he moved to five — thanks to a hole in one on the 3rd hole.
“I like my chances,” Aberg said after Saturday’s round.
With that, here is the complete payout breakdown for this week’s Genesis Invitational. The total purse is $20 million.
