2024 Season Today’s Bowl Games Best Bets – Saturday, December 28th

Pinstripe Bowl: Boston College vs. Nebraska (-4)

The first game to talk about on our list of Saturday, December 28th best bets list is the Pinstripe Bowl game. Boston College and Nebraska will face off against each other. Boston College went 7-5 straight up and 8-4 against the spread (ATS). Nebraska went 6-6 and 6-4-2 ATS. The Boston College Eagles will be without their starting quarterback. However, their backup got some meaningful playing time this year as well.

Nebraska on the other hand will be fairly whole, despite finishing with a disappointing season. Perhaps it was too soon to compare Dylan Raiola to Mahomes. The Cornhuskers averaged a disappointing 23.8 points per game, 228 passing yards, and 131 rushing yards. Their defense was decent, holding opponents to an average of 19.8 points per game, 209 passing yards, and 105 rushing yards.

Boston College averaged 29 points per game, 190 passing yards, and 176 rushing yards. Their defense held opponents to an average of 24 points per game, 246.9 passing yards, and 113 rushing yards. Being susceptible to the pass should benefit Raiola and the Cornhuskers. A win in the Pinstripe Bowl would be a nice way for the Cornhuskers to close their season out and make it a little less disappointing.

Today’s Bowl Games Best Bets: The Nebraska Cornhuskers (-4) get the job done while Raiola shows some potential to look forward to for next year.

Pop-Tarts Bowl: Iowa State vs. Miami (-4)

The next game on our Saturday, December 28th best bets list is the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Iowa State and Miami will face off against each other. You have to feel bad for the Cyclones having to face off against the Hurricanes. Cam Ward and the Hurricanes had a great season and seemed so close to getting into the College Football playoffs. Spoiler alert – I think the Hurricanes are going to take that out on the Cyclones today.

The Cyclones had a good year, finishing 10-3 straight up but only 7-6 ATS. They averaged 30 points per game, 254 passing yards, and 161 rushing yards. Their defense held opponents to an average of 21.5 points per game, 161 passing yards, and 179 rushing yards. Those numbers aren’t bad, but they don’t exactly line up compared to the Hurricanes.

Speaking of the Hurricanes’ numbers, they went 10-2 straight up and only 6-6 ATS. They averaged 44 points per game, 359 passing yards, and 179 rushing yards. I don’t know if the Cyclones will be able to slow Cam Ward, who should also feel that he deserved more Heisman consideration. On defense, the Hurricanes allowed an average of 23 points per game, 209 passing yards, and 110 rushing yards.

Today’s Bowl Games Best Bets: Miami (-4) – I’d even bet this up to -10. Cam Ward and the Hurricanes should roll.

Alamo Bowl: BYU Vs. Colorado (-3)

Will the Heisman curse and hype of Colorado be too much for them? The Colorado Buffalo face off against BYU, a once top-15 team this season in the Alamo Bowl. Their game is the next on Saturday, December 28th, best bets list, because I have a strong feeling all the hype that’s been going on may be a touch too much for one of the teams.

Colorado topped their season off at 9-3 straight up and ATS. Their offense led by Sheduer Sanders and Travis Hunter averaged 34.5 points per game, 327 passing yards, and 70 rushing yards. Their defense allowed an average of 22 points per game, 204 passing yards, and 149 rushing yards. Can their lack of a run game get them past BYU?

The BYU Cougars went 10-2 straight up and 7-5 ATS. They averaged 30.8 points per game, with 233 passing yards a game, and 159 rushing yards. Their defense held opponents to an average of 20 points per game, 180 passing yards, and 136.7 rushing yards. Containing this Buffalo passing attack will be crucial for the Cougars.

Today’s Bowl Games Best Bets: BYU +3, Moneyline (+150) pull off the upset over Colorado.

The Other Saturday Bowl Games

Fenway Bowl: Connecticut vs. North Carolina (-2.5): Connecticut +2.5 covers and wins – North Carolina only covered once as a favorite this year
New Mexico Bowl: Louisiana vs. TCU: Louisiana +10.5 – I don’t know if they can win the game, but I think they keep it close.
Arizona Bowl: Miami (OH) vs. Colorado State: Miami (-2.5) – Miami (OH) Closes their season on a high note
Military Bowl: East Carolina vs. NC State (-7): ECU (+7.5) – This should be a high scoring back and forth game. ECU Keeps it close and are live dogs as well.
Independence Bowl: Louisiana Tech vs. Army (-14.5): Army -14.5 runs all over Louisiana Tech
