Just how much better can World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 season get? With the first tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs series at the halfway point, the 28-year-old is only two shots behind leaders Denny McCarthy and Hideki Matsuyama, who are 11 under par overall.
A victory this week would mark the seventh PGA Tour win of Scheffler’s year, and the 13th of his career. And let’s not forget about his Olympic gold medal from Paris earlier this month.
Scheffler’s stress-free 65 on Friday included five birdies and zero bogeys. He’ll continue his campaign for his seventh win of the year on Saturday in the penultimate tee time alongsIde Justin Rose and Nick Dunlap.
