A windy, damp day at Royal Troon Golf Club saw multiple lead changes in Round 3 of the 2024 Open Championship. Shane Lowry held a two-stroke lead entering Saturday but six bogeys – including five on the back nine – dropped him out of the top spot.
Billy Horschel made the most of Lowry’s struggles in Round 3 to move into the lead at 4-under with a one-stroke advantage over a six-way tie for second. Sam Burns and Thriston Lawrence had the best performances of the day with a 6-under-65 each to move into a tie with Russell Henley, PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose, and Daniel Brown in second at 3-under.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is just two strokes behind Horschel. With the top eight golfers separated by just two strokes, there’s plenty to play for Sunday in Round 4. Here’s when they’ll tee off.
