It’s been an exciting few days at this year’s 2024 BMW PGA Championship, with some of big-time players seeing their names near the top of the leaderboard — including none other than Rory McIlroy, who sits just a few shots back of the lead as the final round is being played.
Hosted by the prestigious Wentworth Club for the 40th consecutive year, who’s going to take home the top prize from the DP Tour event? Only time will tell.
As of press time, a hard-charging Aaron Rai sits in first place at 18-under, with the 29-year-old Englishmen overtaking Italian Matteo Manassero on Sunday to lead by a stroke…for now.
It’s been quite the season for Rai, who has six T10 finishes and one win (Wyndham Championship), so capturing the 2024 BMW PGA Championship would be another stellar victory should he be able to hold on.
But there’s still plenty of holes left till the outcome is decided, so it’ll be fun to watch these guys come down the stretch.
While we’ll all have to wait and see who gets crowned as champion, one thing we do know is the payout amount from this year’s BMW PGA Championship, with the field competing for a pretty sweet payday: $1.53 million of a $9 million purse (which is the same amount as last year, and equals that of the two other Rolex Series events, the Dubai Desert Classic and Genesis Scottish Open).
