Weight loss is a buzzing word in today’s times of indulgent food and sedentary lifestyle. Everyone wants to get into shape and achieve a toned figure without much hassle of joining a gym or sticking to a strict diet. Fitness influencer Ridhi Sharma, known as @getfitwithrid on Instagram, recently shared her impressive journey of losing 20 kilograms without setting foot in a gym or following a restrictive diet. Despite her PCOS diagnosis, Sharma successfully transformed her health and body by adopting six practical habits. Here’s a closer look at the simple yet effective steps that worked for her.
Giving up on spending bucks on a gym membership, Sharma committed to 30-40 minutes of home-based workouts every day, except for the weekend. Her home workout included a combination of strength exercises and Pilates. Keeping her approach simple but effective, all she had was just a yoga mat, a pair of dumbbells, and a resistance band. This accessible approach allowed her to stay consistent with her workouts even with minimal equipment.
Sharma chose to eat only home-cooked meals and ditch any strict or restrictive diets. All she followed with discipline was portion control and consuming a balanced meal. This approach helped her enjoy a range of everyday foods with her family without the need for intense dieting which is difficult to follow in the long run. Protein-rich vegetarian options like tofu, paneer, and legumes were her go-to choices for gaining muscle and cutting fat. It also helped her stay full and energized.
Cutting sugar from her diet was a difficult step, but it was necessary to avoid unnecessary calories and maintain energy. She also ditched processed foods from her diet. By prioritizing natural, whole foods, she was able to manage cravings, improve her nutrition, and stay satisfied with her meals.
Walking is one workout form that has miraculous benefits if one is looking for sustainable weight loss. Walking played a major role in Ridhi’s journey. She aimed for 7,000 to 10,000 steps daily. Even on days she skipped her workouts, she tried to stay active through walking, especially after every meal. This consistent movement helped her burn calories effectively without high-intensity workouts.
Sleeping on time and waking up in the morning is a stepping stone when planning to drop kilos. Ridhi made it her goal to achieve seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night. After getting a good sleep, she felt a surge in her energy, experienced reduced cravings, and had a faster recovery, supporting her weight loss.
Do not expect miracles overnight. Weight loss is all about following a lifestyle. Instead of making drastic changes, Ridhi focused on easy-to-follow and sustainable habits that she could maintain over time. She embraced these habits in her lifestyle rather than looking for a quick-fix solution for weight loss.
