Although remote work is not as popular today amongst employers as it was back during the pandemic and in 2022, that hasn’t stopped professionals from eagerly searching for remote jobs.
In fact, the monthly search volume for “remote jobs” and “work-from-home jobs” is currently at 1.1 million globally across the Google search engine, according to data from Semrush, with U.S.-based searches occupying more than half of that number—a staggering 673,000. And that’s not even accounting for the variations in this search phrase, which altogether comprise up to about eight million Google searches. Remote work is clearly a commodity. But where are the jobs and companies hiring for them?
Sometimes, just typing in “remote jobs” online won’t get you the answers you’re looking for.
First, it’s way too generic, as “remote jobs” could mean literally anything. You could find a remote job as a data analyst, project manager, business development rep, or software developer. The results are endless. So you need to get more specific with your search.
Second, even when you type in a search query such as “remote business development jobs” you might find that Google naturally aggregates the results in job boards such as Indeed or ZipRecruiter, making it harder for you to identify the rare ones—the jobs that are not posted directly on these job boards but remain on the company’s website (and possibly on their LinkedIn page).
Additionally, many career professionals believe that it’s best to apply for jobs directly from the company website anyway. One HR manager even suggested that they never even saw the resumes from Indeed applications and would have preferred to receive them directly.
That’s why it helps to have a list of remote-friendly employers that you have as your go-to when you’re looking for remote work. Now of course, the list may change over time, as more employers adopt a hybrid-remote policy or enforce a complete return-to-the-office altogether. But at the very least, your list can serve as a good starting point and can help you easily identify employers that you resonate with and can picture yourself working in, because of their values, culture, employee reviews, and management style.
To help you identify remote-friendly employers for 2025, here is a list of companies hiring now for remote jobs, including those who have been known to hire for remote work pretty recently, according to recent data from FlexJobs.
