An absolutely chaotic scene here at PRP. With 2:03 left in the game, loud banging noises were heard. Not confirmed if they were fireworks, gunshots, or something else but every player on the field fled the scene immediately. #KHSAA pic.twitter.com/gdbbYk4oJb

Tonight, gunshots were fired in the parking lot during our football game at PRP High School. JCPS Police officers at the game quickly responded to the parking lot, and LMPD was called. Many fans moved under the stands while players were escorted to the locker room for their safety. We are aware of at least one person being wounded. The game was suspended, and people were ordered to leave the premises once JCPS Police and LMPD secured the area.We do not tolerate violence in any form. As a community, we must work together to support one another. If your student would like to talk with someone about what happened, our counseling and mental health teams are always available.
LMPD’s homicide unit is conducting the investigation. An LMPD spokesperson said investigators are pursuing leads, but there is no suspect information at this time.
LMPD is also asking residents in the area to check home video systems for suspicious persons as they have “good reason to believe” people involved in the shooting might have fled through the residential area around PRP High School.
PRP asks that anyone with information or video called 502-574-LMPD.
