Back Me
2 Kyle Of Lochalsh (Bet Now: $4.80) is the way I am going in the opener. This guy didn’t disgrace himself in defeat two back over this trip at Royal Ascot before going to Newbury where he got back in the run and was one paced when asked for the effort but he kept on and was strong late. Back up in trip, he appeals to me as a key winning chance.
Danger
4 Temporize (Bet Now: $5.00) won the race mentioned above at Newbury and was impressive. He was on speed throughout and moved quite well. He was there to be beaten but credit to him, he found under pressure to fend them off and get the win. If the trip is okay, he rates highly.
Long Shot
10 Spirit Mixer (Bet Now: $11.00) comes through the same race from Newbury. He was back off the speed and looked to be tracking into the contest as a threat but when asked for the effort, he was quite one paced in the run to the line. He has run well at Goodwood previously and his best is more than good enough.
Back Me
7 Lead Artist (Bet Now: $5.00) on top for me but not really a race I want to get involved in. Team Gosden trained colt that comes through the Sir Henry Cecil at Newmarket won by Al Musmak. He was near the speed throughout and tried his guts out but on the shifty ground, he wasn’t 100% happy but he was still sound in defeat. On a firmer deck, he’s a big improver I say.
Danger
1 Al Musmak (Bet Now: $3.80) is a Roger Varian trained colt who won the race mentioned above at Newmarket. He was off speed and tracked up with purpose before angling for clear air and he went through his gears late for a dominant win. He’s got clear room for improvement so it’s hard to get away from him.
Long Shot
9 Socialite (Bet Now: $9.00) can be a big improver on firmer footing. Not sure the shifty track was to his liking at Newmarket in the race mentioned above. He led and was near the middle of the track, which probably wasn’t the best ground either, so he had excuses I thought. Firmer deck, control from the front, he takes running down.
Back Me
20 Benacre (Bet Now: $26.00) will do me each way in what looks an open race. He ran over the mile at Hamilton last time out when near the speed throughout and although quickly headed, he stayed on and was sound enough in defeat behind Moonspirit. He has a good record at Goodwood and to me seems an attractive enough price to speck.
Danger
3 Perotto (Bet Now: $6.00) has done little wrong this time in for Roger Varian and rates highly. Game effort in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot before going to the Challenge Handicap at Sandown when tracking the speed before angling wider for clear air. He tried hard but was held late when third. I think with a bunny to chase, he’ll be quite effective.
Long Shot
2 Rebel Territory (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a fascinating runner. Son of Territories that hasn’t raced since the 2023 Victoria Cup at Ascot when tracking the speed before angling clear and gee he went through his gears like a nice horse to draw clear late and was quite dominant late. The break between runs I find interesting but he has quality, so watch the market.
Back Me
It’s hard to ignore 3 Asfoora (Bet Now: $3.80) and her win in the King Charles at Royal Ascot. She looked to be in a tricky spot early but once Murphy let her down, gee whiz she unleashed and was quite powerful late in the piece. Short course specialist and I don’t see the extra weight being an issue. The one to beat.
Danger
9 Big Evs (Bet Now: $2.60) ran third to Asfoora in the King Charles. He tried his guts out and although held late, he didn’t disgrace himself at all when third. He gets a good weight pull, he’ll press forward and does have fresh legs. One of the leading contenders.
Long Shot
4 Believing (Bet Now: $8.00) has been a busy mare but is holding her form really well. Didn’t disgrace herself in both the King Charles and QEll before going to the Sapphire at Curragh when a dominant winner over this trip. She has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it.
Back Me
1 My Prospero (Bet Now: $2.40) is the class factor of the field and I’ll bank on that class getting him home here. He is first up, having not raced since the Champion Stakes at Ascot in October when outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat behind King Of Steel. 1/1 at the track, maps perfect, class edge…I’ll be in his corner.
Danger
2 Cicero’s Gift (Bet Now: $4.00) rises in grade/depth but he is a horse who is humming and is hard to beat. He resumed at Sandown in the Challenge Handicap where he had the suck run in behind the speed befire angling clear nearer the inside and finished best, proving quite strong at the end. Confident he can measure up.
Long Shot
3 Haunted Dream (Bet Now: $4.60) can be an improver here. He was too bad to be true last time out in the John Smith Cup at York when failing to fire a shot, finishing tailed off behind impressive winner Enfjaar. He has run well at Goodwood previously and his best is good enough so don’t dismiss him.
Back Me
5 The Dragon King (Bet Now: $8.00) is heading in the right direction and will do me each way here. He won over 1000m at Windsor a few weeks ago, knuckling down with purpose late after being near the speed and he got better as the race went on to win, so off that, a rise to 1200m is fine, and he seems quite genuine.
Danger
16 Rare Change (Bet Now: $4.60) will be popular with punters given his luckless effort at Haydock last time out. He should have won but just got badly held up in the straight when seemingly full of running, flashing late to finish a close up third. 1200m box ticked for mine and off that, is hard to beat here.
Long Shot
14 Hackney Diamonds (Bet Now: $26.00) comes back to 1200m after leading throughout to break the maiden status at 1400m last time at Leicester when leading throughout. She was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and get the job done. Good racing style and should be strong late.
Back Me
9 Wafei (Bet Now: $2.70) will do me in the get out. Not sure he beat much last time at Hamilton but the arrogance of the win was something else, sitting on speed and he was trucking before being clicked up and away he went, winning by just under ten lengths. Heading in the right direction and should prove hard to beat.
Danger
2 Blake (Bet Now:
$SP.00) has done little wrong in a nine start career and has to be respected off the back of a last start win at Sandown when on speed throughout and seemed full of running. He quickly put the leader to bed and drew clear late to win quite well. Good test here, but confident he measures up.
Long Shot
6 New Chelsea (Bet Now: $4.20) is a nice horse. He sat off speed at Windsor last time, tracking the speed, before angling for clear and moved nicely. He always had the race in control and had enough in hand on the line to win. Harder here, but off a win, with the right run in transit, he’s dangerous.
BEST BET: Race Four Number 3 Asfoora
NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 1 My Prospero
LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 5 The Dragon King
