MILLBROOK, Ala. (WSFA) – The final phase of Millbrook’s new sports complex, 17 Springs, officially opens Tuesday. Phase 2 includes a turf field that can be used for football or soccer, six turf fields for softball or baseball, plus what’s known as the “Field House.”
The Field House is an 86,000-square-foot facility that can host basketball, volleyball, wrestling, or more than sports—corporate events or expos could be held there as well.
As for the fields, the “bowl-style” stadium seats 5,500 people, and includes a track. It will become the home football field and track for Stanhope Elmore High School.
The six diamond fields are designed for high-level softball and 12 & under baseball, complete with 14 batting cages that double as bullpens for the fields.
All of this is in addition to the 12 tennis courts, 12 pickleball courts, and more that opened in the first phase in the summer of 2023.
The official ribbon cutting ceremony for phase 2 of 17 springs is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday.
