Ghaziabad: A 12-year-old boy allegedly attacked a 15-year-old teenager with a piece of glass in Kotwali following a dispute between the two over a cricket ball earlier this week.
According to police, the two boys were playing cricket near Kabadi Market around 5pm on Wednesday when the older boy’s cricket ball got lost. The teenager demanded that the 12-year-old buy him a new ball but the younger refused, claiming he had no money for it.
“To settle the dispute, other children suggested a wrestling match,” said a senior police officer. During the match, the younger boy began losing, and other children started hooting at him. “Angered, he allegedly picked up a piece of glass lying nearby and attacked the teenager, injuring him,” the officer added.
The teenager was later brought to a hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. He has been discharged since. His father later filed a police complaint in the matter. An FIR was registered against the accused minor under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means) of the BNS on Thursday. He was detained on the same day and was granted bail on Friday after being presented before the Juvenile Justice Board.
